3 Idiots’ Ali Fazal has come a long way since his sincere bit-role in the Rajkumar Hirani film. He’s gone on to do a few decent films like Fukrey, Bobby Jasoos and even a cameo in the worldwide blockbuster Fast n Furious 7. And now he’s gearing up for the next step, which involves acting royalty, Dame Judi Dench.

The film is tentatively, Victoria and Abdul. The film is based on the true story on the friendship between Queen Victoria and young clerk from India, called Abdul. The crux of the story forms as to how Abdul grows from becoming the Queen’s tutor in Hindi, Urdu to a confidante and also her political advisor.

The film will be directed by Stephen Frears who has directed movies like John Cusack’s High Fidelity and the more recent Philomena, starring Judi Dench. Fazal, excited about working with such a veteran said, “I’m living my dream. Abdul is a guy from Agra who goes to London and is thrown into a fancy place all of a sudden. That’s just what happened to me. Stephen liked my audition and I did reading sessions with Judi Dench.”

 The young actor will be next seen Mudassar Aziz’s Happy Bhag Jayegi, where he will be starring alongside Abhay Deol, Diana Penty and Jimmy Shergill. Fazal will fly to London, shortly after the release of his latest Bollywood film on August 19.
