‘Happy Bhaag Jaayegi’ is the film which cannot be taken seriously! It is a tale wrapped up in twists of comedy where a fiesty bride played by Diana Penty runs away from her wedding , wounding three men and putting pressure on her delicate fingers!
This film directed by Mudassar Aziz is a situational comedy which does not take itself too seriously when it comes to entertaining the audience.
The only thing which sets the ball rolling is how a Punjabi bride sets her elopement plan and then it all goes awry and finds herself in Lahore.
Film also shows life at the Wagah Border and the credit goes to the director for not over showing the rivalry between India and Pakistan.
Coming to the other star cast of the film , Abhay Deol did a fair job essaying the character of a Pakistani politician , Bilal Ahmed. And the only intention of this guy is to carry on the political lineage of his family for generations and generations to come.
Hence Bilal Ahmed agrees to help Punjabi kudi Happy to reunite with her childhood sweetheart Guddu , played by Ali Fazal and even etches the plan to get them hitched.
A lot of drama happened on transporting Guddu from one country to the other and finally, they set their plan rolling.
But some or the other unfortunate incidents happen and we cannot understand why Happy loves Guddu , an unconvincing musician , who does not know the value of life.
Throughout the film , one thing was common , every guy who met Happy falls head over heels for her. And we don’t understand why is it so? Come on , her character is not that lush!!
The three men , Guddu , Bilal Ahmed and Bagga (the angry groom played by Jimmy Shergill) wants to win over Happy and marry her.
Whereas Momal Shaikh , the Pakistani actress did an average job , she does not have much to say or express.
To brief up , the first part was alright , but it started derailing from the second half. There is no comedy punches thrown and the romantic angles drawn between the characters were sensibly wrapped at the climax.
Every film has its own special moments and ‘Happy Bhaag Jaayegi’ has it as well. It is an ok movie for one time watch!
