Fun fact: This is the first video that The Lonely Island did not direct and edit themselves. Big thank you to Brendan Walter for making this “lyrics video”.
I don't know whose idea this was, but it's revolutionary 😂😂😂
People are talking 'bout how they always had trouble with semicolons.
Aren't they just used to link together two sentences without using a conjunction? (Well, certain types of clauses, really– Semantics.)
Or was my 7th grade teacher lieing?
This sentence is false.
I wish I could just have a 10 hour repeat of the girls voice. It’s so pretty!
the only time i use semi colons is for the winky face 😉
Semicolons are best used when elaborating or expanding upon on a phrase; for example, this one right here where I'm expanding upon right now.
I never; know when to use semicolons.
Java Programmers will know..
Tried writing it with actual semi-colons. Not as good.
My birthday party did have a cake. Unfortunately, someone grabbed it, AND THREW IT ON THE GROUND!
Should I pissed off that these lyrics are using the semicolon incorrectly? Or is that, like, the joke?
"No actually those are all examples of Colin's, you get Fs," "wait what?" Lmao
Omg lol😂😂😂
The sad thing is, the whole video is was sitting there like "Sweet Jeebus, have I been confusing colons and semi-colons this whole time?"
Way to make me question my sanity there Lonely Island.
A comma and a fucken dot; semicolon
I've watched this video possibly a hundred times over the last 4 years, and only just now did I get the (K)night/Young Squire joke.
The examples in the video are not semi-colons. Semi colons join two independent clauses. One word is not an independent clause. What horrifies me is that in the comments, some claim their teacher used this *as an instructional video*. The video is fun, but not at all a good example of semi-colons: https://owl.english.purdue.edu/engagement/2/1/44/
shouldnt "always chase the night" be a vampire?
"Ooh, ooh, ooh we use semicolons all tha toim" – Andy Samberg
Fire
When your ponctuation is name after your intestine and you wonder why nobody uses it properly…
wtf
so what the hell is a semicolon?
Teacher thinks this is educational and plays it in class while students kill themselves laughing ; 1st world education
This song is awesome!
I think the best advice I've received on using semicolons is don't.
His taught me more about colons than my entire life In grammar class
Finally understood, "Always chasing the KNIGHT; young squire" You got me good
"Your birthday party sucked; no cake."
That's actually a half acceptable use of the semi-colon as it clarifies the sentence more than lists a name/example..
My teacher was searching up a song and presented this and thats when we had inspectors..
cout
My 5th grade teacher showed me this; when the “hell” part came it was ok. Then, there came the f word; the entire class WAS LAUGHING
