The paper was founded in 1922 by its inaugural editor Prafulla Kumar Sarkar and the founder proprietor, Suresh Chandra Majumdar. It was first printed on 13 March 1922 and was against British rule.
Ananda Bazar Patrika (Bengali: আনন্দবাজার পত্রিকা, Bengali pronunciation: [anɔnd̪ɔbadʒar Pɔt̪rika]) is an Indian Bengali language daily newspaper published in Kolkata, New Delhi and Mumbai by the ABP Group.
According to the Audit Bureau of Circulations, it has a circulation of 1.16 million copies as of December 2013.
According to the Indian Readership Survey 2012, it is the only major Bengali newspaper in India and has an average issue readership of 5.8 million.
